Question

Give the difference between solid liquid and gas regards compressibility

Open in App
Solution

Explanation

  • Matter exists in three forms solid liquid and gas
  • The intermolecular force of attraction between the solid and liquid molecule is strong as compared to gas also there is very small intermolecular space in solids and liquid molecules therefore solid and liquid are not compressible.
  • In gas, there is very weak intermolecular force attraction as compared to solid and liquid also there large intermolecular space between the molecule of gas

Therefore gases are compressible but solids and liquids are not.
