Salivary gland:

  1. The salivary gland is a digestive gland that secretes digestive juice known as saliva.
  2. There are three pairs of salivary glands in the buccal cavity of man- parotid, submaxillary and sublingual glands.

Location:

  1. Salivary glands are located in the oral cavity or buccal cavity.
  2. The parotid gland lies one on each side of the face, just below and in front of the ears. Submaxillary glands are found within the angles of the lower jaw whereas sublingual glands are found on the floor of the buccal cavity.
