Hormone:

  1. A chemical substance produced naturally in plants is called hormones or Phytohormones.
  2. It regulates one or more physiological reactions when present in low concentrations.

Types of hormones:

  1. There are five types of hormones named auxin, gibberellin, cytokinin, abscisic acid, and ethylene.
  2. The growth promoter's hormones are auxin and gibberellin.
  3. The growth inhibitor hormones are abscisic acid.
  4. Auxin promotes apical dominance and induces cell division. It is also responsible for phototropism and geotropism.
  5. Gibberellin helps to overcome genetic dwarfism and seed dormancy.
  6. Cytokinin hormone overcomes apical dominance, enhances cell division activity, and induces femaleness in male plants.
  7. Abscisic acid activates substances inducing the abscission of different plant parts. It helps in the closure of Stomata and maintains the dormancy of seeds and buds.
  8. Ethylene hormone help in the ripening and maturity of fruits.
