Give the function/role of split rings, armature,brushes,axle, commutator in electric motor?

1. Split rings reverse the direction of current flowing in the coil after every half rotation of the coil and due to this reversing of current , the direction of force remain unchanged on the two sides of the coil and the coil continues to rotate in the same direction.

2. The armature is the power producing part of the electric motor and can be either rotor part or stator part.

3. In electric motor the brushes are called commutators and the function of commutator in an electric motor is to reverse the direction of current through the coil periodically.

4. An axle is a straight shaft that is fixed in location and is used to mount rotating wheels or gears.
