ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic hormone):

  1. ACTH is a tropic hormone secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
  2. It functions by producing a hormone that controls another endocrine gland namely the adrenal gland.

Function:

  1. ACTH stimulates the cortex of the adrenal gland to secrete corticosteroid hormones, mostly glucocorticoids.
