4) They are cold-blooded animals as they absorb heat from the environment (poikilotherms or ectotherms).

5) They have developed lungs which help them to breathe on land as the scales prevent them from absorbing oxygen through their skin.

6) They conserve water by eliminating nitrogen waste as uric acid.
