Solution

  1. The IUPAC name of Acetylene(CH≑CH) is Ethyne and is from the alkyne group.
  2. Ethyne or Acetylene(CH≑CH) is an unsaturated hydrocarbon.
  3. When this Acetylene(CH≑CH) is passed through a red hot copper tube then the product formed is Benzene(C6H6).
  4. The chemical reaction occurs as follows:
    3CH≑CH(g)(Acetylene)β†’CoppertubeRedhotC6H6(l)
  5. The temperature of the reaction is about373K
  6. Hence, we conclude that when Acetylene is heated in red hot copper tube, forms Benzene.
