Solution

  1. Ammoniacal Cuprous chloride is formed when we react or dissolve Cuprous chloride(CuCl) in the solution of water and Ammonia(NH3).
  2. The reaction between Ammoniacal Cuprous chloride with Ethyne is shown below.C2H2(g)(Ethyne)+2CuCl(l)(Cuprouschloride)+2NH3(l)(Ammonia)โ†’Cu2C2(s)(Cuprousacetylide)+2NH4Cl(aq)(Ammoniumchloride)
  3. Ammoniacal Cuprous chloride on reacting with Ethyne gives Cuprous or Copper acetylide and Ammonium chloride.
  4. The produced Copper acetylide or Cuprous acetylide is in the form of red color precipitate.
  5. Therefore, when Ammoniacal Cuprous chloride is added to Ethyne, Copper acetylide is formed.
