Bovine growth hormone is also known as bovine somatotropin. This hormone is produced by the pituitary gland of the cows which regulate the metabolic activities. Through recombinant DNA technology, the Bovine somatotropin gene has been inserted in cows to produce transgenic cows that have high milk production. Hence this hormone is used to increase the milk production in cows.
