Salts: Salts are the ionic compounds that are formed by the reaction of an acid with a base.

Examples: Sodium chloride(NaCl), Potassium chloride(KCl), etc.

Uses of salts are:

  • Sodium chloride is also known as table salt. It is used as a food additive or for giving taste to food.
  • Sodium benzoate is used as a food preservative. It is used to preserve tomato sauce and chili sauce.
  • Fluorides are found in kinds of toothpaste to prevent tooth decay.
  • Silver bromide(AgBr) is used in photography for making photographic paper and films.
