- Life forms that surround us show variety of variations foe example variation in size, shape ,form, nutrition, habitat, active time, organization etc.
- Variation in habitat:- Life forms that surround us include all the animal, plants and even the microscopic organisms that are present in the nature. All of them have different habitats where they live and have adapted. Some are terrestrial some are aquatic and some are air borne, tree dwelling, cave dwelling etc.
- For eg. animals like dog, lion, elephant, cow, horse, donkey etc they live on land are terrestrial, where as fish, prawn, crab, oyster etc are aquatic. Most of the birds are tree dwelling .
- Even plants have different habitat ranging from terrestrial to aquatic to dessert and marsh lands and even wetlands.
- Microorganisms like bacteria, virus they can survive in any habitat and are present in almost all the habitats around us.
- Variation in nutrition:- Organisms have different modes of obtaining nutrition. Plants are autotrophic organisms and are producers of the food chain they make their own food using energy from the sun and inorganic nutrients avalible to them from the soil or water what ever is their habitat.
- where as animals depend on plants for their food as they can produce their own food so they have heterotropic mood of nutrition
- Deterivores have saprophytic mood of nutrition where they feed from the dead and decaying organisms.
- Variation in Size:- This is the most common variation that be observed by anyone. Animals and plants are present in various size ranging from microscopic organisms that are present everywhere and are observed only by using microscope to gigantic organisms like elephant, whale and trees like eucalyptus.
- Also organisms that are present everywhere vary in size from young ones, to adults and from those that have reached old age.
- Even plants have size variation from algae, Thallophytes, pteridophytes, gymnospheres, angiosperms.
- Thus the variation in life forms is seen everywhere around us
