Following are two applications of the turning effect of force.
It is easier to unscrew a nut tightly fitted to a bolt with a wrench having a long arm. When the length of the arm of the wrench is long, less force is needed to apply the required turning effect.
A potter's wheel has a wheel pivoted at the centre, which is turned by the potter with the help of a stick at the outer rim of the wheel. Similarly, a hand flour grinder (chakki) is moved by applying force to its handle.
