The differences between compounds and mixtures are given below:

1. It is a pure substance made by a chemical reaction of two or more elements in a fixed proportion. 1. When two or more substances are mixed physically in any variable proportion in such a way that they retain their individual properties is called a mixture.
2. It can be separated by chemical methods. Example are water(H2O) and Sodium chloride or common salt(NaCl).2. It can be separated by physical methods. Examples are - salt solution, and a mixture of salt and sand.
