Polar covalent compounds: This type of compounds are formed when there is a slight difference between the electronegativities of the atoms bonded which results in unequal sharing of electrons between the atoms bonded.

Example of Polar covalent compounds- H2O, NH3.

Non-Polar covalent compounds: This type of compound results when there is equal sharing of electrons between the bonded atoms.

Example of non-polar covalent compounds- Cl2, CO2
