  • Monosaccharides-
  1. Glucose (substrate for respiration reaction in a cell of our body).
  2. Fructose ( is also an important energy substrate and is found in seminal fluid)
  • Disaccharides-
  1. Lactose (contains galactose which is known as brain sugar)
  2. Sucrose (Found in common white sugar which we consume, breaks into glucose and fructose after digestion)
  • Polysaccharides-
  1. Starch ( Important source of carbohydrates for the human body, gets broken down into simpler carbohydrates by successive digestion in alimentary canal)
  2. Cellulose (forms the fibre component of diet we intake, essential for digestion)
