Give two examples for each of the following :
(a) Metals (b) Non metals
(c) Metalloids (d) Noble gases
(a) Metals: Metals are those substances that are ductile and malleable and are lustrous. Metals have high tensile strength and they are good conductors of heat and electricity.
Examples: Iron (Fe), Gold (Au).
(b) Nonmetals: Non-metals are those substances that are neither ductile nor malleable. They are brittle and dull and are bad conductors of heat and electricity.
ExampleS: Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H).
(c) Metalloids: Metalloids have properties similar to both metals and nonmetals. They are brittle yet they have a shiny surface.
Examples: Silicon (Si), Germanium (Ge).
(d) Noble gases: Noble gases are gaseous substances that are stable and unreactive.
Examples: Helium (He), Neon (Ne).
