Give two examples for each of the following:
(a) Non-metals which are solids
(b) Metals which are soft
(c) Non-metals which are lustrous
(d) Elements which are liquids
(e) Inert gases
(a) Carbon (C) & Sulphur (S) are non-metals which are solids.
Non-metals : Non-metals are those substances that are non malleable, dull and non ductile. Non-metals are brittle and can be broken easily.
(b) Sodium (Na) & Potassium (K) are metals which are soft.
Metals : Metals are those substances that are lustrous, malleable and ductile. Metals have a high tensile strength.
(c) Iodine (I) & Graphite (C) are non-metals which are lustrous.
(d) Mercury (Hg) & Bromine (Br) are elements which are liquids.
Elements: Elements are those substances that are made of similar kind of atoms.
(e) Helium (He) & Neon (Ne) are inert gases.
Inert gases : Inert gases are those gases which are unreactive in nature and are chemically stable.
