Give two examples of Bony fishes.

Pisces:

1. These are commonly called fishes and are exclusively aquatic animals.
2. They have a streamlined body. Fins and a muscular tail are responsible for locomotion.
3. Their skin is covered with scales.
4. They have a two-chambered heart, which have one auricle and one ventricle.
5. They are cold blooded animals which means that their body temperature can change with the change in the outside temperature.
6. They obtain oxygen dissolved in the water through gills.
7. They lay eggs and fertilization is external.

Pisces or fishes are divided into two groups :

1. Chondrichthyes - Fishes with a cartilaginous endoskeleton.
Example - Torpedo, Scoliodon.
2. Osteichthyes - Fishes with a bony endoskeleton.
Example - Sea horse (Hippocampus), Flying fish (Exocoetus).

Two examples of Bony fishes are seahorses (Hippocampus) and flying fish (Exocoetus).
