Solution

We find an area when a region is confined by a boundary, such as the outer and inner surface area of a cylinder, a cone, a sphere, and the surface of a wall or floor is required.

When the amount of space occupied by an object such as water, milk, coffee, tea, etc. is needed, we need to find out volume of the object in that case.

(a) We have to find out the volume of the object to know the capacity of the tank

(b) We have to find the surface area of the region covered by a boundary, wall or floor to know how many cement bags will be required.

(c) Volume of the cylindrical tank should be found to know the number of smaller tanks that can be filled with water from it.
