Question

Given A= {xN : x<6}, B= {3,6,9} and C= {xN : 2x58}. Show that :
A(BC)=(AB)(AC)

Open in App
Solution

A= { 1,2,3,4,5 } as x is a natural number less than 6
For C,
2x58
=>2x13
=>x6.5
So, C= { 1,2,3,4,5 } as x is a natural number less than 6.5
For the LHS:
Union of two sets has the elements of both the sets.
So, BC= { 1,2,3,4,5 }
Intersection of two sets has the elements common in both the sets.
=>A(BC)= { 1,2,3,4,5 } --- (1)
For the RHS:
AB= { 3 }
AC= { 1,2,3,4,5 }
=>(AB)(AC)= { 1,2,3,4,5 } --- (2)
From, 1 and 2
=>A(BC)=(AB)(AC)
