Answer: Types of chromosome.​
On the basis of the position of the centromere, chromosomes are of four types; Metacentric, Sub-metacentric, Acrocentric-arid Telocentric.​

(i)Metacentric chromosome - Centromere is located in the centre. Chromosome has equal arms.​

(ii)Sub- metacentric chromosome-Centromere is present slightly away from the centre. The chromosome has one short and one long arm.​

(iii)Acrocentric chromosome - Centromere is located near the end of the chromosome. Chromosome has one extremely short and one very long arm.​

​(iv)Telocentric chromosomes - Centromere is present at the terminal or extreme end.​
