  • Fertilisation occurs in the fallopian tube of the female reproductive system.
  • The blastocyst forms a pit in the endometrial lining of the uterus and gets fixed in it in about a week's time after ovulation.
  • This process by which the embryo attaches itself to the uterine wall is known as implantation.
