Solution

Definition: Transpiration is the loss of water in the form of vapor through tiny pores present under the surface of leaves called stomata.

  1. The water is absorbed through roots which are conducted by xylem vessels.
  2. The water is then transferred to mesophyll cells from where it moves to intercellular spaces.
  3. The water then enters the substomatal space and then the stoma through which water is lost.
  4. Xylem⇢ Mesophyll cells⇢ Intercellular spaces⇢ Substomatal space⇢ Stoma is the sequence of water movement during transpiration.
