The hormones produced in human females only during pregnancy are human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG), human Placental Lactogen (hPL) and relaxin.
hCG and hPL are released by the placenta, whereas relaxin is released by the corpus luteum in the ovary.
Gravindex is a quick test for diagnosing pregnancy by detecting hCG in the urine. This test detects the prevention of agglutination of hCG- coated particles in the urine of pregnant women. Around eight days after ovulation, a trace amount of the hCG can be tested from the urine for early detection of pregnancy in urine. A woman's body starts secreting hCG soon after the implantation or even from the cellular state of the embryo.
