Solution

Dominant Factor:

  1. It expresses its effect even in the presence of contrasting alleles.
  2. In Mendel's monohybrid cross, a cross is done between tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) Pea plants. In the F1 generation the trait of dwarfness remained hidden as the trait of tallness was dominant and expressed its effect.

Recessive Factor:

  1. It is unable to express its effect due to the presence of the contrasting dominant alleles.
  2. In Mendel's monohybrid cross, after the cross between tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) Pea plants, in the F1 generation the trait of dwarfness remained hidden and can't be expressed. Hence, the trait of dwarfness was recessive.
