Solution

Components of the Hepatic portal system:

  1. The hepatic portal system comprises a hepatic portal vein which is made up of branches that originates from the organs such as the intestines, pancreas, spleen, etc.
  2. The hepatic portal vein gives rise to several capillaries after entering the liver.
  3. These capillaries unite to form the hepatic vein which drains into the posterior vena cava.

Logical order of the given sequence:

  1. The intestinal artery supplies oxygenated blood to the intestine.
  2. The branches that emerge from the intestines combine to form the hepatic portal vein which enters the liver.
  3. In the liver, the hepatic portal vein divides into numerous capillaries which unite to form the hepatic vein and drain into the posterior vena cava.

Hence, the logical sequence is the Intestinal artery, Intestine, the Hepatic portal vein, Liver, and the Hepatic vein.
