i. RBCs undergo change in shape and transform into sickle-shaped cells.

(a) Identify the disease.
(b) What is the reason for this disease?

(a) The disease is sickle-cell anaemia.
(b) It occurs due to disorders in genes which results in structural deformity in the haemoglobin which decreases the oxygen holding capacity of RBC leading to anaemia.
