Amino acids are amphoteric in nature which means that they can behave both as acids and as well as bases due to the presence of acidic group (-COOH) and basic group (-NH2). In acidic medium, the amino acid is positively charged, so it behaves as a base (proton acceptor). In the alkaline medium, the amino acid is negatively charged so it behaves as an acid (proton donor). Human body is made up of thousands of proteins all of which necessary to stay alive and healthy. Amino acids are building blocks of proteins and thus all 20 amino acids are necessary for us.
Thus, the correct answer is option D.
