The correct option is B Both the assertion and reason are correct, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
We know that,

I=VZ=VR2+X2L=VR2+(2πfL)2

With increase in frequency, current decreases.

Also,

tanϕ=XLR=2πfLR

With increase in frequency, tanϕ and therefore ϕ will increase.

Therefore, both the assertion and reason are correct, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

Hence, option (B) is the correct answer.
