Assertion A: If we move from poles to equator, the direction of acceleration due to gravity of earth always points towards the centre of earth without any variation in its magnitude.

Reason R: At equator, the direction of acceleration due to the gravity is towards the center of earth.

Variation of acceleration due to gravity with latitude $\theta$ is given by,

$g^{\prime }=g_0-{\omega }^{2}R{\cos }^2\theta$

Thus magnitude varies as we move from poles towards equator but direction remains same i.e. towards the centre of the earth.
