  • Primary aliphatic amines form highly unstable alkanediazonium salts. They rapidly decompose even at temperatures < (273 K) forming carbocations and nitrogen gas.
  • Primary aromatic amines form arenediazonium salts,which are stable for a short time in solution at lower temperatures (273-278K).
  • The aromatic diazonium salts are unstable above 300 K.
Hence, Statement-I is correct & statement II is incorrect.
