Question

Given below is a passage that consists of six sentences. The first and sixth sentence are given in the beginning. The middle four sentences have been jumbled up. These are labelled as P Q, R and S.
Choose the logical sequence of these sentences:
S1: A force exists between everybody in the universe.
P: Normally it is very small but when one of the bodies is a planet, like earth, the force is considerable.
Q: It has been investigated by many scientists including Galileo and Newton.
R: Everything on or near the surface of the earth is attracted by the mass of earth.
S: This gravitational force depends on the mass of the bodies involved.
S6: The greater the mass, the greater is the earth's force of attraction on it. We can call this force of attraction gravity.

Solution

The correct option is D QSPR
The sentence Q follows the first sentence as 'it' in "it has been investigated..." refers to the force mentioned in the first sentence.
S follows Q as the words "this gravitational force" further expands on the topic of force.
P follows S as the words "normally it is very small" refers to the previous line "this gravitational force..."
R follows P as the words "everything one or near... earth" is a continuation of the words "when... earth, the force is considerable".
The words in R "mass of the bodies" are then followed by the sixth sentence "...the greater the mass...".
Hence the correct sequence of sentences is: QSPR. So, D is correct.
The other options are incorrect as they do not follow the correct logical sequence.
