The given figure ABCD, is a Rectangle such that AO = 10 cm.

For a rectangle we know that the diagonals bisects each other.

Hence, AO = OC

Now,
OC = 10 cm [ $∵ A O = O C$ ]
$\Rightarrow$ 2x + 2 = 10 cm
$\Rightarrow$ 2x = 10 cm - 2 cm
$\Rightarrow$ 2x = 8 cm
$\Rightarrow$ x = 4 cm
