Area of shaded region = Area of outer semicircle - Areas of inner semicircles (1 mark)

= $\frac{π}{2} 6^{2} - \frac{π}{2} 3^{2} - \frac{π}{2} 3^{2}$

= 56.52 – 28.28 = 28.24 $c m^{2}$ (1 mark)
