(a) Label the parts numbered 1 to 9. (b) Give functions of any three endocrine gland. (c) Name a gland which acts both as an exocrine and endocrine gland.
(b) (i) Pituitary gland: It controls and regulates the functioning of other endocrine glands. It also regulates the growth of the body.
(ii) Thyroid gland: It regulates the metabolism of the body, calcium and phosphate levels in the blood. It influences heat production and thus overcomes the effects of exposure to severe cold and stimulates growth by physical and mental development in young ones.
(iii) Pancreas (Islets of Langerhans): It regulates blood glucose level.
(c) Pancreas is a gland which acts as exocrine and endocrine.
