Solution

Transpiration:

  1. Transpiration is the biological process by which water vapor is released from the aerial portions of plants.
  2. The majority of the water acquired by a plant's roots–up to 99.5 percent–is not utilized for growth or metabolic processes, but instead departs through transpiration as excess water.
  3. Transpiration is necessary for maintaining environmental moisture levels.
  4. Transpiration aids in the transport of water and minerals throughout the plant. A balance of water is maintained inside the plant due to the constant removal of water from the plant body.
