Solution

Initially capacitance of the circuit is C1=C2 since two capacitors are in series.

U=C1V22=CV24

When switch is closed-

Equivalent capacitance is C2=2C×C2C+C=2C3
As two capacitors in parallel are connected to a capacitor in series.

U=122CV23=CV23

Heat, H=UU=CV212

UH=3
