Solution

Observe each figure and classify them accordingly

Step 1 - Identify the given figures.

a) Simple curve:

Figures: 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 form a simple curve that changes direction but does not cross itself while changing direction.

b) Simple closed curve:

Figures 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 are simple closed curves as they form a closed plane curve that does not intersect itself.

c) Polygon:

Figures 1 and 2 are polygons as they are formed by union of three or more line segments whose endpoints meet.

d) Convex polygon:

Figure 2 is a convex polygon as it is a closed shape, where none of the vertices are pointed inward.

e) Concave polygon:

Figure 1 is concave polygon as one of its internal angles is greater than 180°.

Hence figures 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 form a simple curve, figures 1, 2, 5, 6 and 7 are simple closed curves, figures 1 and 2 are polygon, figure 2 is a convex polygon and figure 1 is concave polygon
