Question

Given that coshx=54, determine the values of sinh2x
Use the formula for cosh(2x+x) to determine the value of cosh3x.

Open in App
Solution

we have,
coshx=54

and,

ex+ex2=54

4e2x10ex+4=0

ex=10+100648

ex=2 or 12

now,

here we have to calculate cos3hx by spliting that into cosh(2x+x)

sinhx=34 or 34

(i)sinh2x=2coshxsinhx

sin2hx=158 or 158

(ii)cosh2x=2(coshx)21

cosh2x=178

cosh3x=cosh(2x+x)=cosh2xcoshx+sinh2xsinhx

Hence, cos3hx=4032
