We have seen that, if the speed of a boat in downstream is U and in upstream is V. Then the speed of the boat in still water is:- $\frac{U + V}{2}$

And the speed of stream will be:- $\frac{U - V}{2}$

So, here, speed of boat in still water = $\frac{10 + 6}{2} = 8 k m / h r$
