(i) Smog is a combination of smoke and fog and caused by the burning of large amounts of coal. Smog contains soot particulates from smoke, sulphur dioxide and other components.

(ii) Immunity is defined as the capacity of the body to resist disease through body's own immune system.

(iii) Implantation is the stage of pregnancy when developing zygote adheres to the uterine wall.

(iv) Menopause is the time when menstruation stops permanently. It occurs at about the age of 45 years in a female.

(v) Antidiuretic or Vasopressin hormoneacts on the kidney tubules to facilitate the reabsorption of water into the blood.

(vi) The conjunctiva is the thin membrane that covers the entire front part of the eye.

(vii) With advancing age when ciliary muscles become weak and are not able to strain enough to reduce focal length to appropriate value then this defect is known as presbyopia.

(viii) Population density is defined as the number of persons living per square kilometre at any given time.
