Solution

  • The element aluminum (Al) is a group 13 element. The atomic number, which is equal to the number of protons in an atom is given as 13. Hence the number of protons = 13.
  • In a neutral atom, the number of electrons will be equal to the number of protons. Hence the number of electrons = 13.
  • Electronic configuration, also called electronic structure, is the arrangement of electrons in energy levels around an atomic nucleus
  • Hence the electronic configuration is 2,8,3.
  • The mass number is the sum of the number of protons and neutrons.
  • Given the number of protons = 13, the number of neutrons = 14.
  • Hence mass number = (13+14) = 27.
