Question

Given the function f(x)=1x+2. Find the points of discontinuity of the function f(f(x)).

Open in App
Solution

Clearly f(x)=1x+2 is discontinuous at x=2.
Also, it is not defined at x=2.

Now,
f(f(x))=f(1x+2)=11x+2+2=x+22x+5
Thus we observe that f(f(x)) is discontinuous and undefined at x=52
Hence f(f(x)) is discontinuous at x=2 and x=52.
