Question

Given the zeros of polynomial P and list their multiplicities:
P(x)=(x2)2(x+4)

Open in App
Solution

A polynomial is a function of the form f(x)=anxn+an1xn1+...+a2x2+a1x+a0

where an,an1,...a2,a1,a0 are constants and n is a natural number.

To get Zeroes of the polynomial, take f(x)=0

Now given that

P(x)=(x2)2(x+4)

Zeroes of P(x) are 2,2,4

The zero 4 has multiplicity 1, and

Zero 2 has multiplicity 2.
