Explain the features with examples from India and Brazil.
Solution:
The population is unevenly distributed in India and Brazil as physiography and climate play an important role.
Dense population is found in areas with flat and fertile land, availability of water and other natural resources. These conditions also help in agriculture, industries and trade.
In India, the northern plains and in Brazil, the eastern coastal plains have large human settlements due to this reason.
On the contrary, in mountainous hilly regions, and dense forests, density is sparse because of inaccessibility, absence of facilities, and tough life.
This is seen in the Thar desert and high-altitude Himalayan regions in India and in the Amazon basin in Brazil.
