The correct option is C 125 mL/min
Urine formation involves three processes - ultrafiltration, reabsorption and secretion.
The first step ultrafiltration is carried out by glomerulus. The podocytes of Bowman’s capsule forms a membrane with slit pores through which filtration occurs. The slit pores are so minute that blood is filtered so finely through these membrane such that almost all the constituents of the plasma except the proteins pass onto the lumen of the Bowman’s capsule. Therefore, the process is considered as ultra filtration.
The amount of the filtrate formed by both the kidneys per minute is called glomerular filtration rate (GFR). GFR in a healthy human is 125 mL/min. It accounts for 180 litres per day.
