Glucose and alcohol have hydrogen ions but still they are not considered as acids.why?

Open in App
Solution

Glucose and alcohol do not produce H* ions, when dissolved in water. The acids contain hydrogen. When acid is dissolved in water, produce H* ion.

Activity:
Take two blue litmus paper. Dip them into glucose solution and the alcohol. You will notice that there is no change in colour of the blue litmus paper. This shows that they are not acids.

If they were acids, then the blue litmus paper would have changed to red.
