In our body, the complex carbohydrates that we consume is broken down into simple sugars such as glucose. Glucose is the only form of carbohydrate which can be absorbed into the blood after digestion and transported to all cells. It is broken down by cells during cellular respiration to release energy. The energy that is released during this process is used to fuel our body.
