Golconda Fort is also Known as Shepherd’s Hill or Golla Konda. It was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Golconda. It is situated 11 km west of Hyderabad. Originally, it was a mud fort. But later it was reconstructed in stone. Since then it has had a variety of additions by the various rulers of the area. The fort is built on a granite hill at a height of around 120 meters and is bordered by thick walls. They acted as a shield against all the attacks from the enemies.
