Solution

The correct option is C A single oocyte
As a primary follicle begins to mature, there is an increase in the mass of ovum and the surrounding follicular cells. As the follicle grows, it develops two layers covering its outer surface. The thecal cells are stimulated by FSH and the granulosa cells in response to LH secrete estrogen. Each follicle has a single oocyte.
When the mature (graafian) follicle ruptures, the granulosa/follicle cells remaining in the ovary form the corpus luteum, that secretes both estrogen and progesterone. If pregnancy occurs, the corpus luteum will continue to function as an endocrine gland for the entire pregnancy.
